Functional Nutrition Therapy RICHARDSON, TX

Functional nutrition therapy works to repair food-related root causes of chronic disease, including nutrient deficiencies (these are extremely common), food sensitivities and intolerances, nutrient absorption problems, toxin accumulation and compromised gut health.
Nutrition shows you how diet affects your body regarding the essential nutrients needed to support health. Nutrition also looks at the biochemical process and how nourishment provides energy and wellness.

Nutrients are the energy source for your body and include carbohydrates, fiber, fats, minerals, proteins, water, and vitamins. Good nutrition is obtaining the right amount of nutrients from healthy food in the right combinations. Nutrition is avoiding what happens with a poor diet.

Poor nutrition leads to a lack of energy, food allergies, digestive problems, weight gain, anxiety, depression, and many prevalent chronic diseases like cancers, coronary heart disease, and ADHA. Nutritional knowledge and choosing the foods you eat will help you achieve optimum health and wellness.

Improving a poor diet to cure one symptom will often lead to other health benefits such as increased energy levels, improved skin, better sleep, and several other benefits.

Lauren is a Dallas native that specializes in get to the root of your health issue through functional nutrition and supplements.  A few years ago, after giving birth to her second child, Lauren’s world came crashing down when she was diagnosed with a debilitating autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis.  Dermatomyositis, also known as DM, is a very rare disease that effects muscle and skin.  It causes rashes all over your body and your muscles become very weak and tight.  She felt like she was trapped in a sick 90 year old woman’s body.  For months she could barely get out of bed, walk more than 20 steps, pick up her kids, or get out of chairs.  She felt helpless and depressed.  Knowing she had to fight and be strong for her kids she immediately decided to take control of her health and make some drastic changes in her life.

First, she removed her breast implants which have been tied to soft tissue diseases and other auto immune diseases.  Second, she worked with a functional medicine doctor to detox and heal her body with food and supplements. After a year of detoxing, eating a clean diet, and taking supplements for deficiencies she was able to get her life back and slowly wean off medications.  It was then when Lauren realized her true passion was functional medicine and she wanted to help other people feel their best.  She then enrolled in classes at the Functional Nutrition Alliance and became a certified Functional Nutrition Specialist.  Lauren wakes up every day with lots of energy and thru this new healthy way of eating she lost 50 pounds and has been able to maintain it eating as much as she wants as long as it’s follows her guidelines of eating.  Food can be extremely healing to your body, you just have to learn to how to have a good relationship with it.  “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” Hippocrates.
